Framing at 151 Studio

The Framing at 151 Studio, which is situated at THE BLUE HOUSE, 151 Jan Smuts Avenue, Parkwood, is
headed by framer Pauline Meyer. Pauline has over 20 years’ experience in the framing industry and
her passion, creative dedication and sensitivity not only to the work she is framing, but the needs of
her clients, ensure that Pauline’s service is truly bespoke.

The 151 Framing Studio has been running since 2016, in affiliation with David Krut Publishing.

Pauline does all the in-house framing for David Krut Projects and focusses on newly-produced works through DKP collaborations, the reframing and preservation of works from the DKP archive and more specifically the archival framing of works on paper.

It has always been team work, whether it is putting a bit of pressure on me to complete big
framing jobs for exhibitions or assisting me in holding a large frame upright to put in the last screw and hook.

Pauline does all the in-house framing for David Krut Projects and focusses on newly-produced works through DKP collaborations, the reframing and preservation of works from the DKP archive and more specifically the archival framing of works on paper.

My affinity for printmaking stems from my love of works on paper, hence my specific focus on the preservation of art on paper. Acidity is a huge problem and I source materials which are both acid and lignin free.

Aside from her passion for conserving works, Pauline feels strongly that framing is a complimentary extension of the artwork and it is unique to every work and client:

I can only speak from my experience; I would say that some people might think that framing is expensive or a luxury and not a necessity. As someone with a passion for framing, I would argue that it only enhances and preserves your artworks, photographs, paintings, certificates, and gives these things the significance they deserve.
