In this video Michael Amery shows the steps of how he creates some of his charcoal drawings. With this work, Trees by Man 20, he starts out by folding the paper to set the foundation for a grid. When he primes the paper with charcoal, the dust settles in the grooves, accentuating the vanishing point, as well as referring to the mechanical steps taken to produce mono crops, such as the plantation of blue gums depicted.
