The portfolio, consisting of 10 lithographs (7 graphic, 3 photographic; each signed by the artist) in an edition of 50, represents selected works by South African artists who have featured in i-jusi Magazine and include  David Goldblatt, Anton & Mark Kannemeyer, Brandt & Conrad Botes, Garth Walker, Pieter Hugo, Wilhelm Kruger, Brode Vosloo and Mikhael Subotzky.

i-jusi (roughly translated as “juice” in Zulu) is an experimental graphics magazine concept born along with the New South Africa in 1994 as a development of the question: ‘What makes me African?’ Self-published by Garth Walker, this legendary non-commercial magazine has been encouraging artists, designers, illustrators, photographers and writers to create in total freedom and explore their personal views on life in a free and democratic South Africa over the last 16 years. The magazine has been exhibited in over 25 countries and is held in the collection of MOMA, the Victoria and Albert Museum and Bibliotèque Nationale d’France.

All lithographs in the portfolio are 325 x 500mm printed on 250g Rives BFK and the printing process used is offset lithography using UV stable inks. The portfolio boxes are hand made and covered with Egyptian linen book cloth. Preparation of the images for printing was overseen by Professor Stephen Innggs of the Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town. Selection of the images was by Garth Walker and Gavin Rooke. The portfolio is limited to fifty copies numbered 1/50-50/50, with Artist’s Proofs numbered A.P. I/V-V/V, and one Archive Impression numbered A.I. Each print is signed by the individual artist.
