In late 2021, long-time collaborator Maja Maljević was back in the workshop beginning new works that will be showcased over the course of 2022. The first of which will be in the upcoming group exhibition Alone of its Kind, opening on Thursday the 27th of January at 17:30. A showcase of the monotype printing technique, Maljević is one of a few artists in the show who produced monoprints. Monoprints are unique artworks, just like monotypes, but they include printable elements that can be replicated, such as etchings, linocut and silkscreen. A series of unique works can be created with commonalities and repeated elements running through.

In order to make the screenprinted bases for the largest works, the workshop enlisted the help of printer Cloudia Rivett-Carnac of Chocolate Ink Studio who has large screenprinting presses. [Left: Roxy; right: Cloudia Rivett-Carnac].
A mix of old and new etched plates of Maja’s were used in these works, in some cases an old plate was etched again with new marks layered over past ones.

It was all hands on deck as the entire printing team and some interns were able to collaborate with Maja on these works.
