On 21 July at Villa Arcadia, 22 Oxford Road, Parktown, Stephen Hobbs will be speaking and taking part in a discussion which he has titled Urban Labotomy/Laboratory.
The talk will “(d)raw on Rem Koolhaas’ notion of skyscraper buildings as a design disconnect between – interior function and exterior form, thus a dysfunctional signifier of urbanity, Stephen Hobbs will explore the inherent contradictions between public and private space in Johannesburg, with a view to the role that cultural production plays in opening up social and creative space; to promote increased social legibility and connectivity.”
