David Krut Projects is pleased to present What’s the Word? Reading Text in Print-based Art, featuring works that evoke language, the materiality of the book and the spoken word, pulled from our archive and collective of artists. Featuring work by Wilma Cruise, Elize de Beer, Boemo Diale, Adrian Fortuin, Stephen Hobbs, William Kentridge, Sbongiseni Khulu, Dorothee Kreutzfeldt, Lebogang Mogul Mabusela, Pebofatso Mokoena and Mikhael Subotzky, What’s the Word? reaches across the political and the personal, as well as providing insight into how text is incorporated into prints. The entire history of printing is based on the reversal of information, requiring a certain ‘backwardness’ and the capacity to imagine things from the other side.
