DKW Weekly Do-it-at-home Kids Activity | Heidi Fourie with Kim-Lee Loggenberg

Even though we are all in #lockdown and can’t go outside that much, we can still make our own awesome forest inspired by Heidi Fourie’s monotypes. All you need are some leaves, paint and your imagination! Printer Kim-Lee Loggenberg shows you how in these simple steps.
Remember to tag us in your artworks to feature in our stories.

Step 1 – Gather your materials. You will need: Paper, brushes, acrylic paint, leaves from the garden.

Step 2 – Paint your background.

Step 3 – Paint your leaves then press them onto your painted background.

Step 4 –Place a sheet of paper over the leaf and then rub over the leaf so that the paint transfers onto your background.

Step 5 – Add each of your leaves, you can use different colours.

Step 6 – Add some cool drawing or collage! If you want to add some people or animals that live in your forest then you can draw them in.

Kim-Lee found a picture in a magazine, which she cut out and stuck onto her artwork. She also stuck on some of the leaves she used. Play around and have fun!
