Ostrich-sized

Ostrich Sized is a silkscreen print that forms part of Zhi Zulu’s silkscreen series The Curious Five, aptly titled to be a comical take on South Africa’s Big Five, depicting unlikely animals in the midst of bustling Johannesburg, and referencing tall tales that foreign visitors sometimes believe about the likes of wild lions roaming the streets.

The title Ostrich-sized cleverly references the term “ostracized” meaning to be excluded from a group or community much like non-South African citizens are sometimes excluded in our country leading to xenophobia.
