A fair amount of fumbling
For this work, Fourie overlaid two photographs – a grassland scene and an underwater scene – and used the resulting composition as her reference image. Fourie likes the contrast between images of grass and underwater scenes, but also the similarities between the way plants move underwater and how they move in the wind. Merging the images creates the illusion of the figure swimming through the grass. This image is a direct reference of Fourie’s exhibition title, Grass You Can Swim In.
