Let Sleeping Crocs Lie (Ed. of 20)
This image was created at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop (RBPMW) in April 2012 during Victor’s two-month stay in New York to create a body of work for her exhibition ‘Reap and Sow’ at David Krut Projects, NY.
The plate created for this edition is a shaped plate cut by the artist. It is an image of a crocodile with a woman in fetal position lying on its back. She holds a hand to her mouth hushing herself and her audience, keeping ever so still so as not to disturb the dangerous creature, who is restrained by nothing more than a flimsy piece of cotton around its jaw. It represents the ‘reptilian mind’ that she wishes not to awaken.
