Interchange II, 2015
A bicycle wheel was run over the softground covered plate. We used three different types of soft ground mixtures to get different effects; some tyre tread patterns appear hazier than others due to the softness of the ground, whereas others are crisper as the soft ground is more stable in consistency. Once the tyre pattern was created on the plate it was etched for varying amounts of time for different affects. Thereafter, this print was run through the press 4 times for completion; the first time with 5 different sized sheets of tosa washi and gampi chine colle, the second time by flipping the chine colle around and printing on them again, the third time to attach them to the backing sheet and the final time to emboss them with 2 plates and a tarlatan layer. This print was printed using Portland black and Graphic Chemical Karat Gold etching ink
