The Grand Magician, a spoof of the housing crisis in the US, depicts the two Goldman Sachs buildings which sit on either side of the Hudson river dividing New York and New Jersey. They sit atop a mote, resembling Escher’s impossible constructions and carrying a stream of houses. Instead of being supported by a strong and sturdy structure, the frail structure here has burst, emptying out and destroying its contents while the two towers still sit prominently up above.
