Simon Attwood

Simon Attwood (b. 1997) is a South African artist specialising in printmaking. His artistic practice is informed by the natural landscapes of Mpumalanga, as well as elements encountered through his anti-poaching efforts, such as animal skulls, snares, and skeletons. Attwood also demonstrates a strong interest in the indigenous flora of Ehlanzeni. He utilises a range of media in his work, including linocut, charcoal production, bronze, fibres, animation, and painting.

Simon Attwood (b. 1997) is a South African artist with an interest in printmaking. Attwood was born in Johannesburg, however he grew up in Mpumalanga, where he feel in love with the plants, trees, wild animals and landscapes. He graduated in 2017 from the international baccalaureate diploma program at Waterford Kamhlaba United World College in Eswatini. He went onto get his degree, with distinction, from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2022. He finds inspiration for his art in the natural landscapes of Mpumalanga, as well as the skulls, snares and skeletons of animals found during the anti-poaching work that he undertakes. He has a keen interest in the indigenous plants and trees of Ehlanzeni. He works in a variety of media, including linocut, charcoal-making, bronzes, fibres, animations and paintings.
