Justin Fox

Justin Fox is the editor of Getaway International travel magazine and is based in Cape Town. He was a Rhodes Scholar and received a doctorate in English from Oxford University after which he became a research fellow at the University of Cape Town, where he now teaches part time. His articles and photographs have appeared internationally in a number of publications and on a wide range of topics, while his short stories and poems have appeared in various anthologies. He has written scripts and directed award-winning documentaries and is a two-time Mondi journalism award winner (1999 and 2004). His recent books include Cape Town Calling (Tafelberg, 2007), Under the Sway: A Photographic Journey Through Mozambique (Umuzi, 2007),  Africa Lens (Jacana, 2009) and The Marginal Safari (Umuzi, 2010). The latter was nominated for the 2011 Alan Paton Award for non-fiction.

Justin Fox first showed with David Krut Projects Cape Town in 2011, in Postcards from the Road, a two-man exhibition with Don Pinnock. An image from an upcoming body of work, entitled Cape of Storms, was included in Cross-Currents at David Krut Projects Cape Town in 2012.
