Book Launch & Discussion  I  Jane Taylor’s Being Led by the Nose

Join us for a fantastic morning of conversation between author Jane Taylor and artist William Kentridge as they discuss the many facets that comprise The Nose, this insightful new title and the artist’s practice.

 

Written by Kentridge’s long-term friend and collaborator, Jane Taylor, the book provides a behind-the-scenes look at Kentridge’s version of Shostakovich’s absurdist opera The Nose and how it reflects the artist’s methods of art making.

Showcase Launch: Jaco van Schalkwyk

A print launch and solo project, DOLCEFARNIENTE, by artist Jaco van Schalkwyk. DOLCEFARNIENTE exhibited at the David Krut Projects Johannesburg Gallery at 142A Jan Smuts Avenue earlier this year travels to David Krut Projects Cape Town opening 23 September to 26 November.

Launch of Stanzas 8 & Poetry Reading

The Stanzas Poetry Anthologies is a quarterly publication of new poetry by established and aspirant poets. It offers a dynamic range of voices and styles within a vast landscape of expressions. Stanzas 8 is dedicated to the poet and writers’ mentor, Anne Schuster, who died in June this year.

It is co-edited by by David Krut Projects poet in residence Patricia Schonstein and Douglas Reid Skinner. Stanzas 8 is dedicated to Schonstein’s mentor, Anne Schuster, who died in June this year.

Japanese Culture in South Africa: A Lecture in a Gallery

A collaboration between the Office of Consul of Japan and David Krut Projects Cape Town

The Office of Consul of Japan in Cape Town and David Krut Projects bring an enlightening lecture to the public.

The Consul of Japan, Yasushi Naito, Japan’s most experienced diplomat on South Africa, will discuss Japanese Cultural Practices in the context of South Africa, set amongst the backdrop of Asuka Nirasawa’s vibrant exhibition.

The exhibition includes a colourful multiverse of the Japanese born artist’s works and an installation which weaves across the ceiling and walls of David Krut Projects Cape Town.
