Lorenzo Nassimbeni at DKW

The work of architect Lorenzo Nassimbeni is unique in its focus on the area where the disciplines of architecture and fine art meet. The practical methodology which he employs is powerful, describing the essence of his primary inspiration, the ‘urban landscape.’ Across the media of wallcovering, fabric design, mural design and fine art, his portfolio of work is unified by a signature architectural style of drawing: a distillation of black line on white background.

Of his current project at David Krut Print Workshop, collaborating both with the printmakers as well as artist Emaile Bingham, Nassimbeni has said: “My current focus is to look at the subterranean architecture of urban Johannesburg – tunnels, ramparts, catacombs, sewerage networks – in extending the narrative of the ‘ Invisible City.’ I have discovered that some of these spaces are being lived in currently.”
