The Mystery of ‘Creative Intuition’ with Theresa Hardman | Listening Time 41 min

In this podcast episode, David Krut Podcast host Britt Lawton was in conversation with architect, artist, designer and creativity expert Theresa Hardman. Theresa shared her knowledge from research for her PhD thesis – Understanding Intuition in the Creative Process – completed at the University of the Free State in 2019. Theresa has presented her knowledge on the topic at conferences in Durban, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town and Pretoria.

Topics covered include: what is creativity; the importance of solitude and collaboration; the rational and non-rational aspects of the creative process; psychology and Eastern philosophical influences on understanding the creative experience; the external factors that nurture creativity; mindfulness versus ‘mindlessness’… & much more! Theresa concludes that creative intuition can be understood and actively nurtured in the academic creative arts context and aims to share this knowledge with the world – beyond the academic environment.
The most beautiful thing that we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead; his eyes are closed.” – Albert Einstein
