DKW Master Printers in NYC!

David Krut Print Workshop (DKW) Master Printers Jillian Ross and Mlungisi Kongisa have spent the past week in New York on their way to Milwaukee where they will be special guests at the SGC International Printmaking Conference.

It’s been a busy week for the two printers. They arrived last Saturday morning and by the afternoon had joined us at the gallery in Chelsea for artist Christopher Cozier’s conversation with Tumelo Mosaka, curator of contemporary art at Krannert Art Museum.

They spent Sunday at The Armory Show and then Monday at MoMA where they met with Judy Hecker, assistant curator in the Department of Prints and Illustrated Books. Hecker was co-organizer of the exhibition William Kentridge: Five Themes at MoMA in 2010 and Impressions from South Africa: 1965 to Now in 2011. Later that afternoon they visited the Pace Prints studios.

Tuesday evening they joined us at the New York Public Library for a conversation between photographer Gary Schneider and Deborah Kao, Chief Curator of the Harvard Art Museums.

Wednesday was a visit to the LeRoy Neiman Center for Print Studies at Columbia University before spending the afternoon at the gallery looking through prints with Master Printer, Brian Shure.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday have been spent at Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, working with Master Printer, Phil Sanders and artist Joe Hart. Joe Hart had a show at our gallery in New York in 2010.

Next stop Milwaukee!
