A Piece of Work: An Exhibition of Various Unique Works

A Piece of Work is a group exhibition of variations of the monotype process and other unique works on paper contributed by a selection of invited artists, collaborations with the David Krut Workshop (DKW) and DKW team members themselves. On view are works which experience the pressure of an etching press and, as a comparative, those that have not.

“Monotypes are one-of-a-kind printed images. They have been called “the painterly print” or “the printer’s painting”. Working on an unarticulated plate, the artist develops an image much like a painting or drawing”.

In this exhibition the monotype process is celebrated and investigated alongside the ‘unique work’ by presenting each of the artist’s contributions as ‘a piece of work’. This phrase can be defined as a product or creation of work but also a complicated, eccentric or unique character or something that is crazed and bizarre, yet intriguingly charming, all of which can be attributed to the creative process.
